Enjoy an enchanting journey on the Santa Special steam train through beautiful countryside to visit Santa in his grotto! Adored by children and adults alike, a ride on this exquisitely restored 50-year-old steam engine is an extra special festive treat for the entire family.

This terrific two-day break also includes a visit to the Black Country Museum, where Industrial Britain is bought back to life. At this fascinating open-air attraction you'll discover working electric tramcars, trolleybuses and canal-side villages where costumed actors bring the past to life with their local knowledge and unique Black Country humour. You can also watch a silent film in the 1920s cinema, take a lesson in the old-fashioned school or enjoy some traditional fish and chips from the 1930s-style fried fish shop.

However, the highlight of this holiday is sure to be the locomotive journey on the Severn Valley Railway from Kidderminster to Arley. Seeing the majestic Santa Special steam engine waiting for you at Kidderminster Town Station, steam wisping from its smoke stack, is one of life's more magical moments.

A spine-tingling shriek of the train's whistle and you're off, pistons chuff-chuffing as the Santa Special makes you feel as if all your Christmases have come at once. On this wonderful journey you'll pass Pan Pudding Hill (from where Henry I bombarded Bridgnorth Castle in 1101), the famous leaning tower of Bridgnorth Castle, stunning Severn Valley Country Park, the attractive riverside town of Bewdley and the largest working Victorian water mill in England. You'll also traverse atmospheric bridges and viaducts, including Borle Viaduct, a crossing that gives passengers a sensational view of the Severn Valley. In addition to this, you'll pass through some meticulously restored stations, such as Highley Station, winner of the Best Preserved Station Award. Then, just when children think their day couldn't get any better, the Santa Special stops at Arley Station where a gift-laden Santa awaits their presence in his grotto - providing the perfect ending to a festive break that families will remember with warmth and affection for many a year.

Sit back and enjoy the ride!
